The MEDRAP Concerted Action to support the Northern Mediterranean Action Programme to Combat Desertification

This volume contains the proceedings of the workshops held in the framework of the EU “MEDRAP Concerted Action to Support the Elaboration of the Sub-Regional Action Programme to Combat Desertification in the Northern Mediterranean”. During the project, which ran from 2001 until 2003, five workshops were held on:

- Sustainable Use of Soil and Water Resources;
- Identification of Sensitive Areas in the Northern Mediterranean;
- Degradation and Protection of resources in the Northern Mediterranean: Social, Economic and Political Aspects;
- Prevention and mitigation to Combat Desertification in the Northern Mediterranean;
- What Regional Strategies for Combating Desertification in the Northern Mediterranean?

The workshops were attended not only by renown experts on different desertification-related topics but also by stakeholders involved in land planning and management in the five pioneer Annex IV Countries (Portugal, Spain, Italy, Greece and Turkey).
